Bernard and I appeared in the college’s 1956 show called ‘Babes in the Blackboard Jungle’ (named after a then recent film with a similar title, starring Sidney Poitier). It was written and produced by an ex-member of staff, Jack Abbott. Bernard and I were in the ‘3s’ at the time and were in what might be termed ‘the chorus’. I was given two lines to say during the performance (lines which I remember to this day), but Bernard was not given any. I think he was quite disappointed about that, especially as he was already involved with a theatre group. Still he had the last laugh as his acting career has been rather more extensive and successful than mine!
